NSTP Fund for Gaza RM10,500 aid from firm, Socso employees

KUALA LUMPUR: The NSTP Fund for Gaza received another boost yesterday with a RM5,000 contribution from 10-month-old company, Golden Corporate Heritage, and RM5,420.50 from the Social Security Organisation employees.
Golden Corporate Heritage's managing director Hesham Fathi handed the cheque to NSTP's director for advertising sales, Badrol Hisham Mahzan, at Balai Berita.Hesham hoped his company's contribution would be used to help children who have been hard hit as a result of the Gaza war.The contribution by Socso was collected by the organisation's Council for Socso Officers Association who placed collection boxes at various locations at Menara Perkeso, Socso's headquarters.
The council's vice-president, Rahim Mohamad, and three other council members presented the cheque to NSTP's senior marketing manager Wan Abdillah Wan Nawi.
The fund was launched on Jan 5 and more than RM7.2 million has been collected. To date, RM5 million of the amount has been handed to a Palestinian humanitarian fund to help rebuild the war-torn country. Another RM500,000 was handed to Mercy Malaysia for the supply of medicines to help the victims of the Gaza war.
The NSTP fund was set up to aid Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, following Israeli attacks in the territory. The deadline to contribute to the fund has been extended to March 7. Those who wish to donate can: - Bank in or transfer money to Maybank account number 514105-320501 under the name NSTP Fund for Gaza;- Write a cheque payable to the NSTP Fund for Gaza and send it to The New Straits Times Press, 31 Jalan Riong, 59100 Kuala Lumpur; or- Cash donations can be handed to the cashier at Balai Berita or to any NSTP branch office nationwide.
